SOMERSET COUNTY AUTHORITIES ARE INVESTIGATING THE FRIDAY NIGHT FATAL SHOOTING IN NORTH PLAINFIELD NEW JERSEY

NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ.- On Saturday, August 14, 2021 Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, Somerset County Chief of Detectives John W. Fodor and North Plainfield Police Chief William G. Parenti jointly announced the investigation into the Triple Shooting which resulted in the death of a 14-year-old male and a 31-year-old male is continuing.
Somerset County Authorities stated that on Friday, August 14, 2021, at approximately 8:06 p.m., Members or The North Plainfield Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting multiple shooting victims at the Malcolm Garden Apartment Complex, located on Little Place in The Borough of North Plainfield.
Upon arrival, Police Officer found three victims, all who had sustained serious gunshot wounds. Police Officers immediately started to provide life-saving measures while awaiting Emergency Medical Personnel. Medical Personnel from The North Plainfield Fire Department Emergency Medical Service, Atlantic Health Care Paramedics and The New Jersey State Police Northstar Medevac all responded and provided critical life-saving medical triage at the scene.
Somerset County Prosecutor Robertson stated that one victim a 14-year-old boy succumbed to his injuries, and was pronounced deceased at the scene, another victim, a 31-year-old man was transported to an undisclosed trauma center, and subsequently pronounced deceased upon arrival, the third victim, a 28-year-old man was Medevaced to an undisclosed trauma center and underwent emergency surgery and has been listed in critical condition.
Prosecutor Robertson further stated Detectives from The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office, The Crime Scene Investigations Unit, North Plainfield Police Department, and Investigators The New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner's Office are conducting the investigation at this time.
The identities of victims have not been released, pending notification of the next of kin. An autopsy will be performed by The Regional Medical Examiner's Office.
Preliminary investigation has determined that all three victims were sitting outside on a first floor patio area of the apartment, in which one of the male victims resided. The assailant and or assailants approached and confronted the victims as they were sitting outside, and fired multiple rounds at close range striking all three victims.
Detectives are trying to establish a motive and description of the individual or individuals responsible for the shooting.
