Suspect Wanted In Connection With Fatal Shooting Arrested

 A MAN WANTED IN CONNECTION WITH TUESDAY JULY 27, 2021 FATAL SHOOTING OF A 30-YEAR-OLD JERSEY CITY WOMAN HAS BEEN ARRESTED

     "Mark Stewart, 26, Of Jersey City, New Jersey Has Been Arrested In Connection With Tuesday's Fatal Shooting Of Felicia Stewart Has Been Arrested By Hudson County Authorities."

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- On Saturday, July 31, 2021 Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced a Jersey City, New Jersey man wanted in connection with the death of 30-year-old Felicia Stewart, who was fatally shot on Grant Avenue off of Martin Luther King Drive in Jersey City on July 27, 2021 has been arrested by members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit.



     On Saturday, July 31, 2021, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Mark Stewart, 26, of Jersey City, New Jersey was arrested after surrendering himself to Homicide Unit detectives at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City. He was arrested without incident and will be housed at the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny, New Jersey pending his first appearance.


     Stewart was charged with First Degree Aggravated Manslaughter; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon (firearm) for an Unlawful Purpose; and Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (firearm).


     On Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Members of The Jersey City Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Grant Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive in Jersey City. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a 30-year-old female victim, later identified as Felicia Stewart, who had sustained gunshot wounds to her back and was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased at 2:02 a.m. 


     The Regional Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be gunshot wounds to the abdomen and the manner of death to be homicide. There is no known familial relationship between the victim and the suspect.


Hudson County Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit for the investigation and arrest and the Jersey City Police Department for their assistance in the investigation.


" The Rules Of The Court Require Us To Include A Statement, Which States: The Charges Are Merely Accusations And The Defendant And Or Defendants Are Presumed Innocent Unless And Until Proven Guilty Beyond Reasonable Doubt."
