PASSAIC, NJ.- On Wednesday, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Passaic Police Chief Luis A. Guzman announced that based upon an investigation by the Passaic Police Department, Jared Stack, 19, from Passaic, New Jersey, was arrested in relation to a shooting incident that took place on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 in the area of Paulison Avenue and Broadway in Passaic, New Jersey.
Jared Stack has been charged with Second Degree Aggravated Assault; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and Third Degree Receiving Stolen Property.
On Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at approximately 2:46 p.m., Members of the Passaic Police Department responded to the area of Paulison Avenue and Broadway, in Passaic, New Jersey after they were advised of a shooting. Upon arrival, Police Officers located a potential crime scene, but no victim was identified.
Based upon the investigation, it was determined that Jared Stack had brandished a handgun and fired it at two unidentified individuals who were not struck.
Shortly following the incident, members of the Passaic Police Department arrested Jared Stack in the area of Lincoln Street in Passaic. Police recovered a stolen 9 millimeter handgun, which Jared Stack had discarded before his arrest.
The sentencing exposure for Jared Stack, if convicted on Second Degree Aggravated Assault is Five to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison with 85% term of service before parole eligibility pursuant to The No Early Release Act and Three Years Parole Supervision; on Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose it is Five to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison with 42 Months of Parole Ineligibility pursuant to The Graves Act; on Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon it is Five to Ten Years New Jersey State Prison with 42 Months of Parole Ineligibility pursuant to the Graves Act; and on Third Degree Receiving Stolen Property, it is Three to Five Years New Jersey State Prison.
After processing, Mr. Stack was remanded and The State intends to file a motion for pretrial detention that will be heard by a Superior Court Judge.
