Investigation Into Non-Fatal Police Shooting

 NJ  ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE APPOINTS CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE AS INDEPENDENT PROSECUTOR

CAMDEN, NJ.- On Wednesday, August 25, 2021 Acting Camden County Prosecutor announced The Camden County Prosecutor's Office is investigating a Police Involved Shooting in Gloucester County that resulted from the arrest of Delaware County, Pennsylvania resident Arthur DiSanto.


     Mr. DiSanto who was wanted for allegedly shooting his girlfriend in Media, Pennsylvania in July, attempted to evade capture in Folcroft, Pennsylvania on Monday night, August 23, 2021. DiSanto fled to Deptford, New Jersey, where he exchanged gunfire with Police Officers.


     An Officer with The Monroe Township Police Department was struck. The Officer has been treated and released from the hospital. 


     Mr. DiSanto was also struck three times by gunfire and was transported to Cooper Medical Center in Camden, New Jersey where he remains in critical but stable condition.


     The investigation is being conducted pursuant to Attorney General Directive 2019-4, which provides clear standards and procedures for conducting such investigations. In accordance with Directive 2019-4 The Attorney General's Office has appointed The Camden County Prosecutor's Office as Independent Prosecutor. The Camden County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and Special Prosecutions Unit will now continue the investigation of both Use Of Force and the Potential Underlying Criminal Charges.
