CAMDEN, NJ.- On Thursday, August 26, 2021 Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez announced an arrest has been made in connection with last weeks Homicide in Camden, New Jersey.
Maurice Peaker, Jr., 26, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was apprehended in Yeadon, Pennsylvania on Thursday, August 26, 2021, by The U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force-Camden Division and The U.S. Marshals Eastern PA Violent Crimes Task Force-Philadelphia Division.
In the early morning hours of Sunday, August 15, 2021, Thomas Smith, 67, of Camden, New Jersey was found in the area of Kaighn Avenue and Rose Street in Camden, New Jersey suffering from a gunshot wound. Mr. Thomas succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased, later in the day.
Mr. Peaker is currently being detained in The George Hill Correctional Facility in Delaware County, Pennsylvania pending his extradition back to New Jersey.
