DEFENDANT CHARGED IN AMBER ALERT KIDNAPPING NOW CHARGED WITH MURDER OF CHILD'S MOTHER

RAHWAY, NJ.- On Thursday, July 15, 2021 Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel and Rahway Police Department Jonathan Parham announced the man charged with the kidnapping his own son in an incident that resulted in a widely broadcast Amber Alert last week has now been charged with killing the boy's mother.
Tyler Rios, 27, of Highland Park, New Jersey is charged with First Degree Kidnapping and First Degree Murder in connection with the alleged abduction of 2-year-old Sebastian Rios and the death of Yasmin Uyar.
The investigation led to Rios being identified as a suspect in the case, after Sebastian Rios did not show up for daycare last Friday and Uyar did not arrive for her scheduled work shift. A welfare check was conducted at Uyar's house by members of The Rahway Police Department, but no one was found inside.
New Jersey State Police issued an Amber Alert shortly thereafter. Sebastian Rios was found unharmed in Monterey, Tennessee early Saturday morning, when Tyler Rios was taken into custody without incident. later in the day, investigators located Uyar's body in a wooded area nearby off of Interstate 40. An autopsy determined the cause and manner of death to be homicide.
Tyler Rios remains in custody in Tennessee pending his extradition back to New Jersey, Uyar and Rios have a past history of domestic violence.
