WASHINGTON, DC.- Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has set Wednesday as the deadline to vote on the Democrats proposed $3.5 Trillion Reconciliation Package and the $1.2 Trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Package, furthering President Biden's economic wishlist. The bills provide funding for Human Infrastructure, which includes provisions for education, healthcare and much more.
In setting a fast approaching deadline, Schumer has forced Legislators to quickly finalize the details of the proposed bills, like what's actually included within the bills, and who will pay for it.
Some Senators think it's hasty, like Senator Rob Portman, who said " we're going to get it done, I don't know if we'll make anybody's arbitrary timeline."
Senator Lindsey Gram has suggested that his GOP constituents flee the U.S. Capitol in order to break quorum like the Texas Democrats did last Tuesday over the State's proposed Voting Restrictions Bill. Senator Joe Manchin (D-VA) said he's " very, very disturbed" by the proposal therein to eliminate Fossil Fuels, which is significant because Democrats need unanimity to pass the bills.
Legislators have dropped a tax provision from the $1.2 Trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill in an attempt to achieve wider support for the bill, As the Wednesday's deadline inch closer. The provision would have given The Internal Revenue Service more enforcement power to collect taxes.
We will have to wait to see how Schumer's deadline plan unfolds over the next three days.
