HUDSON COUNTY NARCOTICS STRIKE FORCE SEIZE MORE THAN 2 KILOGRAMS OF SUSPECTED HEROIN/FENTANYL AFTER 6 WEEK INVESTIGATION

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- On Tuesday, July 2021, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez that on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, following a six-week long investigation, Members of The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Narcotics Task Force executed search warrants leading to the seizure of more than Two Kilograms of Heroin/Fentanyl.
At approximately 10:00 p.m., Detectives conducted a motor vehicle stop, of a vehicle in Jersey City, New Jersey. Detectives later executed a search warrant of a backpack belonging to an occupant of the vehicle, Juan Gomez, 37, of Elizabeth, New Jersey.
The search of the backpack resulted in the discovery of approximately one Kilogram of Heroin/Fentanyl. A subsequent search of Gomez's apartment, located on Fairmont Avenue in Elizabeth, New Jersey on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 resulted in the seizure of an additional 1,200 Grams of Heroin/Fentanyl.
Mr. Gomez has been charged with Second Degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with Intent to Distribute, and Second Degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with Intent to Distribute Within 500 Feet of a Public Park. At this time additional and upgraded charges are pending.
