RAHWAY, NJ.- On Saturday, July 10, 2021 Acting Union County Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo and Rahway Police Director Jonathan Parham announced that the child who was the subject of Multi-State Amber Alert on Friday, July 9, 2021, has been located safe, however, the child's mother remains missing. The child's father who allegedly abducted both, is now in custody.
Sebastian Rios, 2, was found early Saturday Morning in Monterey, Tennessee, where his father 27-year-old Tyler Rios of Hindland Park, New Jersey was arrested without incident. The boy's mother 24-year-old Yasmin Uyar of Rahway, New Jersey has yet to be found.
An investigation led by The Union County Prosecutor's Office and Assisted by Members of The FBI's Newark Field Office, The New Jersey State Police, and The Rahway Police Department led to Tyler Rios being identified as a suspect in the case, after Sebastian Rios did not show up for daycare on Friday and Uyar did not arrive for her scheduled work shift. A welfare check was conducted on Uyar's home by Members of The Rahway Police Department Friday Morning, but no one was found inside.
Shortly thereafter, The State Police issued a Amber Alert that was sent to privately owned cell phones and broadcasted on electronic billboards along New Jersey Highways and in other States.
Tyler Rios remains in custody in Tennessee pending extradition to New Jersey and the filing of criminal charges.
" While we are relieved that Sebastian Rios has been found safe and that Tyler Rios is in custody, we are still urging anyone with information about the whereabouts of Yasmin Uyar to come forward and tell us what they know, even anonymously," Prosecutor Ruotolo said.
