AN OCEAN COUNTY GRAND JURY HAS RETURNED AN INDICTMENT ON MURDER AND WEAPONS OFFENSES AGAINST A LAKEWOOD MAN

LAKEWOOD, NJ.- On Thursday, July 8, 2021, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on July 8, 2021, Jorge Santiago-Garcia, 32, of Lakewood, New Jersey has been indicted by a Grand Jury sitting in Ocean County on Charges of Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon in connection with the death of Rodrigo Jimenez-Paz on August 31, 2020 in Lakewood, New Jersey.
On Monday August 31, 2020 members of The Lakewood Township Police Department responded to a business on 2nd Avenue in Lakewood, New Jersey in response to multiple 911 Emergency Calls indicating that an individual had been stabbed at that location.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found Rodrigo Jimenez-Paz, 29, of Lakewood, New Jersey suffering with a stab wound to his chest. Medical Units transported Mr. Jimenez-Paz to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where Mr. Jimenez-Paz succumbed to his injury, and was subsequently pronounced deceased.
An investigation by The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office High Tech Crime Unit and The Lakewood Police Department, identified Jorge Santiago-Garcia as the individual who stabbed Mr. Jimenez-Paz. Santiago-Garcia was arrested and has been lodged in The Ocean County Jail since his arrest.
Ocean County Prosecutor Billhimer acknowledges the diligent efforts of the Law Enforcement Agencies that participated in the investigation that resulted in the indictment of Santiago-Paz.
