Construction Worker Charged In Bergen County, New Jersey

A CLIFTON CONSTRUCTION WORKER HAS BEEN CHARGED IN CONNECTION TO ALLEGED SEXUAL OFFENSES IN BERGEN COUNTY, NEW JERSEY

     " Elkana Gonzalez Of Clifton, New Jersey Has Been Charged With Aggravated Sexual Assault & Endangering The Welfare Of A Child."

FAIRLAWN, NJ.- On Friday, July 16, 2021, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of Elkana Gonzalez, 23, of Clifton, New Jersey on Charges of Sexual Assault and Child Endangerment. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and The Fairlawn Police Department under the direction of Chief Glen Cauwels.


     On May 28, 2021, The Fairlawn Police Department received information that Mr. Gonzalez engaged in Sexual Conduct with a Juvenile under the age of thirteen, while in Fairlawn, New Jersey.



     The Fairlawn Police Department contacted The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit an New Jersey Department of Child Protection and Permanency, an investigation was initiated. During the investigation it was determined by authorities that Gonzalez engaged in Sexual Contact with the child over an extended period of time in Fairlawn, New Jersey.


     As a result of the investigation, on Thursday, July 15, 2021, Gonzalez was charged with One Count of First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault and One Count of Third Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.


     Elkana Gonzalez was served with the complaint while at The Passaic County Jail, where he is being held. Gonzalez's First Appearance at Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, New Jersey is pending.


" The Rules Of The Court Require Us To Include A Statement, Which States: The Charges Are Merely Accusations And The Defendant And Or Defendants Are Presumed Innocent Unless And Until Proven Guilty Beyond Reasonable Doubt."
