Paterson Man Arrested On Charges Of Sexual Assault

 PATERSON MAN ARRESTED FOR NUMEROUS SEXUAL ASSAULT CHARGES

     " A Paterson Man Has Been Charged With Numerous Offenses Against Three Children, Authorities Report."

PATERSON NJ.- Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, announced the arrest of Richard Solis, 46, of Paterson, New Jersey. Mr Solis was arrested on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 after an investigation that was conducted by The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit. Mr. Solis is charged with First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault, two-counts of Second Degree Sexual Assault, Second Degree Endangering The Welfare Of A Child, and two-counts of Third Degree Endangering The Welfare Of A Child.



     On May 22, 2021, The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office received a report from The Division of Child Protection and Permanency, in reference to a 15-year-old child who alleged being sexually assaulted by Mr. Solis when the child was 5-years-old. An adult witness in the case also disclosed being sexually assaulted by Mr. Solis, when the witness was 11-years-old and further reported Mr. Solis engaging in sexual contact with a 3-year-old child. The investigation revealed that the sexual assaults and sexual contact occurred in a residence in Paterson, New Jersey. The Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit interviewed victims and multiple witnesses and subsequently charged Mr. Solis.


     The sentencing exposure on a First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault is ten to twenty years of imprisonment in a New Jersey State Prison, with a mandatory  85% term of service before parole eligibility, pursuant to The No Early Release Act, on the Second Degree Sexual Assault it is five to ten years of imprisonment in a New Jersey State Prison, with a mandatory 85% term of service before parole eligibility, pursuant to The No Early Release Act, on the Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child it is five to ten years of imprisonment, in a New Jersey State Prison, and on Third Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child it is three to five years of imprisonment in a New Jersey State Prison.


     The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office has filed a motion before The Superior Court of New Jersey for pretrial detention, and is asking the court that Mr. Solis be detained in The passaic County Jail, pending adjudication of the case. A hearing on the detention motion will be scheduled at a future date to be determined.


" The Rules Of The Court Require Us To Include A Statement, Which States: That The Charges Are Merely Accusations, And The Defendant And Or Defendants Are Presumed Innocent Unless And Until Proven Guilty Beyond A Reasonable Doubt."
