CLIFTON MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH ASSAULT ON A CHILD

CLIFTON, NJ.- On Friday, June 11, 2021, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announced the arrest of Lee Russy, 47, of Clifton, New Jersey. Mr. Russy was arrested on June 1o, 2021, after an investigation conducted by The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit. Mr. Russy is charged with One Count of Third Degree Aggravated Assault and One Count of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
On September 9, 2020, The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office received a report of an 11-year-old child who was examined by a pediatrician for certain injuries. The child was brought to the pediatrician because the child disclosed being assaulted by Mr. Russy at a residence and in a motor vehicle, both in the City of Clifton. During the investigation, Prosecutor's Office Detectives interviewed the victim and multiple witnesses resulting in Mr. Russy's arrest.
The sentencing exposure on Third Degree Aggravated Assault it is three to five years in New Jersey State Prison and on Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child it is five to ten years in New Jersey State Prison.
Following his arrest, Mr. Russy appeared in Central Judicial Processing Court and was released on pre-trial monitoring.
