Somerset Mother Indicted On Murder Charges

SOUTH BOUND BROOK WOMAN INDICTED ON MURDER CHARGES IN THE DEATH OF HER SON

     " Elina Gutti, 38, Of South Bound Brook Has Been Indicted On Murder Charges In The Death Of Her 4-Year-Old Son."

SOUTH BOUND BROOK,NJ.- A Somerset County Grand Jury returned an indictment this week, against a South Bound Brook mother on charges of murder and two other lesser charges, in the February 6th death of her 4-year-old son.


     Elina Gutti, 38, of Cedar Street, South Bound Brook, also known as Olga Singhania, and Olga Gutiy, is charged with killing her son, who has been identified as Aiden Singhania.



     The indictment charges Gutti with one-count of First Degree Murder and two-counts of Third Degree Possession Of A Weapon, specifically a knife, For Unlawful Purpose.


     Accounts to the February 6, 2021 incident are as follows:


     South Bound Brook Police responded to a 911 call from Gutti at 2:28 a.m. In which the suspect told police she had injuries to her wrist, that she could not account for. The injuries to her wrist required minor medical treatment.


     Police later found the 4-year-old, suffering from severe lacerations, in the child's bedroom. two bloody kitchen knives were located near the child's bed. Police along with emergency medical performed life-saving measures, which were unsuccessful, the child was pronounced dead, at 3:17 a.m. at the scene.


     Gutti was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation, by the South Bound Brook Police.


     Investigators from The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office, Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Investigation Unit responded to the scene, to conduct the investigation. The New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner's Office also responded to conduct an investigation. A post-mortem examination was performed to determine the cause and manner of death.


     Somerset County Assistant Prosecutor Robert J. Hawkes presented the matter before The Grand Jury. 


     Gutti remains in custody at the Somerset County Jail, after being detained pending trial.


" The Rules Of The Court requires that we include a statement, which states, that the charges are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are innocent until proven guilty."
