Senate Questions Biden's Choice To Head ATF

BIDENS NOMINEE TO HEAD THE ATF COMES UNDER SCRUTINY

" David Chipman, Slated By Biden To Head-Up The ATF Comes Under Intense Scrutiny By Senate Republicans."

May 27, 2021 By: Art Fletcher & Leonard Madison, Opinion Reporting For: Englebrook Independent News,

WASHINGTON-  A person once told me, " Guns Don't Kill People, people Kill People." The person who told me that 30-years ago, was shot six times in Newark, NJ., while I was visiting him in the hospital.

Yesterday as President Biden's pick to head-up The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, was grilled by Senate Republicans.   It's clear now David Chipman is on a path to deprive americans their constitutional right to own firearms.

Chipman's answers to questioning, at times vague and combative, prove with everything that is unfolding in the country today, gives further insight and  clarity to what the Biden Administration has instore for  the future of america.

David Chipman's past statements and with answers he gave yesterday, are as pathological as DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas claims that our southern border is closed.

Although President Biden made a show of talking up Chipman's 25-years as an ATF Agent, Chipman's untrustworthiness should be closely monitored.

The President failed say that those years weren't without lingering questions. Chipman was a case agent in the Branch Davidian trial, while he was stationed in Waco, Texas, from 1993 to 1998. Chipman's reported claims Branch Davidians downed helicopters with .50- caliber rounds, during the 51 day siege, were factually untrue. A U.S. House of Representatives report indicated that no helicopters downed or any crew hurt.

Chipman's antipathy wasn't limited to Waco. He ridiculed the 8.4 million first-time gun buyers as fearful and preparing " for the end of times scenarios and zombie apocalypses."

" If you didn't think you needed a gun prior to March of this year, you certainly don't need to rush out and get one now," Chipman added.

The ATF, the main agency that enforces Federal Gun Laws, hasn't had a confirmed Director in six years. It has only had one since Congress made the position and the Senate approved the position in 2006. In large part, observers say, because of the opposition from The National Rifle Association, and other gun rights groups.

For years Democrats have been trying to increase regulations banning certain types of guns. " Gun violence is a public health crisis that requires not just thoughts and prayers, but urgent action. Yet as tens of thousands of americans lose their lives to gun violence each year. One of the primary agencies charged with the epidemic has not had a Senate-Confirmed Director," said Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin, ( D-Ill.).

Chipman has a deep, inside understanding of the ATF. He worked for the bureau for almost 25-years, beginning his career as a special agent in Norfolk, Va.

" He was very good, very intelligent, accurate in his everyday work investigations," said Ron Tarrington, a now-retired ATF agent who was Chipman's supervisor in Norfolk.

Chipman responded to two of the highest-profile terrorist attacks of  the 1990's, the bombing of The World Trade Center in New York City in 1993 and the blast two-years later in Oklahoma City.

He was sent to Waco, Texas, after the disastrous ATF Raid on The Branch Davidians compound. To assist the trial team in the aftermath.

Over the years, Chipman was promoted to more senior supervisory roles in the ATF office throughout the U.S., including his home state of Michigan, and the agencies headquarters in Washington, D.C. He retired from the bureau in 2021.

Since the, he has become an outspoken advocate for gun violence prevention. He has advocated for tougher gun laws, including limits on high-capacity magazines, and assault-style weapons.

His advocacy role has inflamed many Republicans as well as pro-gun groups including The National Rifle Association. On Tuesday, 20 Republican State's Attorney General's wrote to several U.S. Senators, urging them to vote against Chipman.

If Chipman is confirmed by a 50-50 split in the Senate, with Vice-President Kamala Harris casting the deciding vote. His first order of business should be to encourage the Justice Department to pursue criminal prosecution against Hunter Biden, the President's son for falsifying information on the ATF-4473 firearms transaction form.

Democrats in the Senate need to look at Chipman's performance in his home state before the vote. Michigan has been has been plagued with gun-toting militias for the past three decades, if the want him to advance their political agendas.

As Biden and Democratic House Representatives keep up the pressure in defunding the police agencies throughout the nation, and with the ever- increasing surge of violence, in 2021. We need to understand that the Democrats either have a hidden agenda, or frankly none of them no what they are doing.
