FIRE CONTINUES TO BURN AT JERSEY CITY METAL RECYCLING CENTER

JERSEY CITY, NJ- On Monday night a fire broke-out at Sims Metal Management, a metal recycling facility located in Jersey City. The fire which was first reported around 11:00 p.m., continued to burn throughout the night.
The facility is surrounded by water, limiting the potential spread of the fire. Firefighters brought the second alarm blaze under-control around 9:00 a.m. today.
Firefighters will remain on the scene to extinguish hotspots throughout the day.
The facility has been plagued with fires in the past years. Sims Jersey City facility has experienced 6 fires since 2010.
There were no reports of injuries, and the origin of the fire at the facility has not yet been determined.
