BREAKING: UPDATE: New Orleans Terror Attack

10 Dead & 35 Injured In New Year's Earlier Morning Terror Attack

NEW ORLEANS, LA.- As previously reported, Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent Charge Alethea Duncan has confirmed that at 3:15 a.m. on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, a white pickup truck drove around barriers onto the sidewalk on the 100 Block of Bourbon Street and drove at a high rate of speed striking dozens of people killing ten and injuring 35 many remain in critical condition. Duncan also reported that law enforcement is continuing the search for a range of suspects.


     The pickup truck then crashed into an ariel lift near the intersection of Bourbon Street and Canal Street. The driver of the truck then exited the vehicle and opened fire, striking two New Orleans Police Officers before being shot dead by Police Officers.



     The truck's driver and suspect has been identified as Shamsud Din Jabbar, 42, a resident of Houston, Texas, and a U.S. citizen. Jabbar is a military veteran who is reported to have served ten years in the US Army.


     The truck was reportedly rented in Houston, Texas, and then driven to New Orleans. During the initial search of the truck, investigators found a Glock handgun, a .308-caliber rifle, and an ISIS flag all inside the truck, and an additional black flag was also found on the outside of the truck. Police have reported that there were two improvised explosive devices were found near the scene and were safely detonated. Two other explosive devices were found inside the scene.


     Authorities reported that they are actively searching for other suspects who have been reported to be in the City of New Orleans. The truck that was rented around November 16, 2024, has a history of being detected by license plate readers in and around the Eagle Pass sector of Texas and was deemed as suspicious in potential human smuggling activity at the southern border.


     An unconfirmed intelligence bulletin issued by the Louisiana State Police revealed that pipe bombs and remote detonators were also found inside the truck. The bulletin also stated that three men and a woman were captured on video placing improvised explosive devices in and around the area prior to the truck driving through the crowd. 


     Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry has canceled the Sugar Bowl for tonight.


     "This continues to be a developing story. We will be updating this horrific terrorist attack as we receive information and can confirm it."
