MAYS LANDING, NJ.- On Monday, July 22, 2024, Nahjajuan Ellis, 23, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, appeared in Atlantic County Superior Court and was sentenced by the Honorable Donna M. Taylor, J.S.C., to New Jersey State Prison on narcotics and weapons charges.

According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, Ellis was sentenced to a term of 10 years in State Prison on the charges of first-degree Maintaining a Controlled Dangerous Substance Production Facility; second-degree Possession of Heroin and Fentanyl with the Intent to Distribute; and second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Handgun.      The sentence stems from an investigation that unfolded on January 26, 2023, when Detectives of the Vice Unit of the Atlantic City Police Department executed a court-authorized search warrant at an apartment in Atlantic City. Prior to Detectives entering the apartment, Ellis was seen exiting the front door and was immediately taken into custody.

During the search, Detectives found a stolen loaded handgun and over a half-ounce combination of heroin and fentanyl. Police additionally found paraphernalia that is consistent with the packaging of narcotics for street-level sales, along with stampers, ink pads, and digital scales. Further, Detectives seized $8,565 in cash consistent with narcotics sales.

During Monday's sentencing hearing, Ellis was additionally sentenced to concurrent terms on unrelated charges of third-degree Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute; and Obstruction of Justice.
