45-Year-Old Camden Man Will Spend The Next 6 Decades In State Prison For The 2019 Beating Death Of A Man

CAMDEN, NJ.- On Friday, a 45-year-old Camden, New Jersey man learned that he would die in prison after a Camden County Superior Court Judge sentenced him to 65 years in New Jersey State Prison for the September 2019 beating death of Nathaniel Perry.
On Friday, July 19, 2024, Corey James Malloy, 45, of Camden, appeared in Camden County Superior Court and was sentenced to 65 years in State Prison after being convicted on April 17, 2024, of first-degree Murder. The sentence is subject to the No Early Release Act, which will require Malloy to serve 85% of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole.
The sentence stems from an investigation that began on September 19, 2019, when members of the Camden County Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an unconscious man. Upon arrival, Police Officers found Nathaniel Perry unconscious, in a pool of blood, bleeding heavily from his head.
During the initial investigation, Detectives and Police Officers learned from two eyewitnesses who were at the location that Corey Malloy punched Perry several times, knocking him to the ground, then Malloy continued to stomp Perry's head repeatedly until the witnesses intervened.
Mr. Perry was transported to Cooper University Hospital for treatment and succumbed to his injuries a few weeks later and was pronounced deceased.
During the ensuing investigation, Detectives were able to find Malloy a short time later in the area and take him into custody for the assault. Blood that was discovered on Malloy's sneakers tested positive for Mr. Perry's blood. Following Mr. Perry's death, the charges were upgraded to first-degree Murder.
