BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ.- On Tuesday, a 71-year-old Brick Township, New Jersey man was taken into custody and jailed following the execution of a search warrant at his home that revealed that he was using the internet to view, download, and possess nude and or sexually explicit digital images of children.

According to Ocean Count Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office was contacted by the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force after receiving a cyber-tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that an individual in the Ocean County area was uploading digital images of child pornography to the internet.

A subsequent investigation by members of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office High Tech Crime Unit identified an IP Address in Brick Township residence as the location from which an individual was uploading the images of child pornography. The individual residing at the residence was ultimately identified as Robert Lasher, 71, of Brick Township, New Jersey.

Following the identification of Lasher, on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, Detectives of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, the Brick Township Police Department, and the United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations executed a court-authorized search warrant on Lasher's home. An initial examination of Lasher's electronic devices uncovered several digital images of nude and or sexually explicit images of prepubescent and pubescent children.

Accordingly, following the execution of the search warrant, Lasher was taken into custody and charged with one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child for Possessing Child Pornography.

Lasher was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Ocean County Jail pending future court proceedings in Ocean County Superior Court in Toms River, New Jersey. The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office has filed a pretrial motion to have Lasher detained pending the resolution of the filed against him.

"The rules of the court requires us to include a statement, that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt."
