60-Year-Old Bridgeton Man Sentenced To Prison For Sexually Assaulting A Child Over 3 Years

BRIDGETON, NJ.- On Monday, June 17, 2024, a 60-year-old Bridgeton, New Jersey man was sentenced to 4 years in New Jersey State Prison in connection with the repeated sexual assaults of child that occurred over 3 years back between 2015 through 2018.
According to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae, following an investigation, on June 15, 2020, Phillip Weiss, 60, of Bridgeton, New Jersey was taken into custody and formally charged with first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; second-degree Sexual Assault; and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Following several court appearances, on December 11, 2024, Weiss pleaded guilty to third-degree Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact. In return for the guilty plea, the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office recommended the presumptive term of 4 years on the third-degree charge.
On Monday, Weiss appeared in Cumberland County Superior Court and was sentenced by the Honorable Niki Arbittier, J.S.C. to a term of 4 years in State Prison. Upon Weiss' release from prison, he will be required to register as a sex offender under Megan's Law and will be subject to parole supervision for life.
