VINELAND, NJ.- Last Monday, Sheldon M. Goldsborough appeared in Cumberland County Superior Court and was sentenced by the Honorable Cristen P. D'Arrigo to a term of 45 years in New Jersey State Prison in connection with the 2015 shooting that claimed the lives of two men and injured a woman.

According to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb McRae, on Monday, June 3, 2024, Judge D'Arrigo sentenced Goldsborough to 45 years for the charge of first-degree Aggravated Manslaughter; 20 years for first-degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder; 10 years for second-degree Reckless Manslaughter; and 10 years for Aggravated Assault.

The judge ordered that sentences would run concurrently with each other and the sentence is subject to The No Early Release Act which will require Goldsborough to serve 85% of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole.

The sentence stems from an investigation that began on March 8, 2015, when at just around 12:15 a.m., members of the Vineland Police Department responded to the 100 Block of West Grape Street in Vineland after receiving a 911 Emergency Call reporting multiple gunshots. Upon arrival, Police Officers located a motor vehicle with one occupant outside the vehicle and three inside the vehicle.

One victim, Damien Mills was pronounced deceased at the scene, and a second victim, Kevin Peterson, who sustained 4 gunshot wounds was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Two women were also inside the car when Goldsborough opened fire. One woman was struck in the leg,. and the other woman escaped injury.

A subsequent investigation, including DNA Analysis, recovered from a cell phone found at the scene linked Goldsborough and co-defendant and co-conspirator Michael R. Lofkin, Jr. to the fatal shooting. The two men were taken into custody and charged shortly after the murders.
