45-Year-Old Teaneck Charged With Striking A Child In The Face With An Object Causing Injuries

TEANECK, NJ.- Following an investigation, a 45-year-old Teaneck, New Jersey woman was jailed on Friday after being charged with child endangerment and a weapon offense, after allegations of child abuse for violently striking a child with an object.
According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Friday, May 24, 2024, the Teaneck Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office after receiving a report regarding an alleged incident of child abuse. The alleged incident of child abuse was reported to have happened while the child was under the care of Katherine Pastor, 45, of Teaneck, New Jersey.
After interviewing witnesses including the child victim, Detectives quickly determined that Ms. Pastor struck the child multiple times in the face with an object, causing injuries that required immediate medical treatment.
Accordingly, on Friday, May 24, 2024, Ms. Pastor was taken into custody and formally charged with one count of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and a Disorderly Persons Offense of Simple Assault.
Pastor was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
"The rules of the court requires us to include a statement, that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt."
