Man Sentenced To Prison For Aggravated Sexual Assault Of Preteen

46-Year-Old Trenton Man Sentenced To 30 Years In State Prison For The June 2022 Rape Of A Child

TRENTON, NJ.- On Friday, a 46-year-old Trenton, New Jersey man was sentenced to 30 years in New Jersey State Prison for the June 2022, sexual assault of a young girl.


     According to Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri, on Friday, May 17, 2024, Taalibdin Shakir, 46, of Trenton, New Jersey appeared in Mercer County Superior Court and was sentenced by the Honorable J. Adams Hughes, J.S.C. to 30 years in New Jersey State Prison. Judge Hughes ordered Shakir's sentence to be subject to The No Early Release Act which will require him to serve 85% of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole.





     In August 2023, following a two-week trial, a jury sitting in Mercer County, New Jersey found Shakir guilty on the charge of aggravated sexual assault for sexually assaulting a girl who was under the age of 13 when the assault occurred in Trenton, New Jersey.  


     Upon release from prison, Shakir will be required to register as a sex offender according to Megan's Law registration requirements as well as parole supervision for life.
