38-Year-Old Bronx, New York Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting A Child In Elmwood Park

ELMWOOD PARK, NJ.- Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella reported that on Friday, May 10, 2024, a 38-year-old Bronx, New York man was taken into custody and charged in connection with allegedly sexually assaulting a child in Elmwood Park, New Jersey.
According to Bergen County Authorities, on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, the New Jersey Division of Child Protection & Permanency contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile that occurred in the past.
A swift-moving investigation by Detectives of The Bergen County Special Victims Unit and the Elmwood Park Police Department and after interviewing witnesses including the victim, Detectives determined that Jorge Sanchez, 38, of Bronx, New York sexually assaulted a child who was between the ages of 13 and 16 years old in Elmwood Park, New Jersey.
Accordingly, following the investigation, on Friday, May 11, 2024, with the assistance of the New York City Police Department, Sanchez was located and apprehended in the Bronx, New York by Detectives of the Bergen County Special Victims Unit and formally charged with first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and third-degree Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact.
Sanchez was processed on the charges and will be detained by the New York City Department of Corrections at Rikers Island pending extradition to New Jersey.
