20-Year-Old Pennsauken Man Charged In Connection With April 16th Fatal Crash That Killed His Friend

PENNSAUKEN, NJ.- Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay reported, that on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, a 20-year-old Pennsauken, New Jersey man was taken into custody and charged in connection with an April 16, 2024, afternoon fatal motor vehicle crash that claimed the life of his 20-year-old friend.
According to Police, on April 16, 2024, just shortly before 3:30 p.m., members of the Pennsauken Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a serious motor vehicle crash on the 9000 Southbound Block of Crescent Boulevard in Pennsauken.
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a Chrysler Sedan that had crashed into the rear of a Tractor-Trailer. A passenger in the Chrysler, identified as Sean Hill, 20, Pennsauken, had succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Chrysler, 20-year-old Gage Patton of Pennsauken sustained injuries in the crash and was transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden for treatment. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the crash.
An investigation was launched and Detectives of the Camden County Prosecutor's Office and the Pennsauken Police Department determined that Patton was driving the Chrysler at a high rate of speed when he crashed into the rear of the tractor-trailer killing Mr. Hill.
Accordingly, on Tuesday, Mr. Patton was taken into custody at the Pennsauken Police Department and formally charged with one count of second-degree Death by Auto and was issued multiple motor vehicle summonses. Patton was processed on the charges pending future court proceedings in Camden County Superior Court. Patton's custody status was not reported.
"The rules of the court requires us to include a statement, that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt."
