Man Charged With Gloucester Township Shooting Death

On Monday A 21-Year-Old Man Was Taken Into Custody And Charged For An April 16th Fatal Shooting

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ.- On Monday, a 21-year-old Gloucester Township, New Jersey man was taken into custody and charged with Murder and Weapons Offenses in connection with the shooting death of Nasir Tart.


     According to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay, the arrest and charges are in connection with an incident that occurred on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, just before 5:30 p.m., members of the Gloucester Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a person had been shot in the LaCascata Development in Gloucester Township.



     Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, identified as Nasir Tart, 24, of Gloucester Township, New Jersey unresponsive from a gunshot wound. Mr. Tart was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.


     A swift-moving investigation by Detectives of the Camden County Homicide Unit and the Gloucester Township Police Department was able to identify Hasan Battie, 21, of Gloucester Township, New Jersey as the shooter and the individual responsible for the death of Mr. Tart.


     On Monday, April 22, 2024, Battie was taken into custody in Camden City, New Jersey, by members of the U.S. Marshals Service New York/ New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force and formally charged with first degree Murder; second degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and second degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.


     Following being processed on the charges Battie was remanded to the Camden County Jail pending future court proceedings in Camden County Superior Court.
