Fourth Suspect Surrenders In New Brunswick Shooting

ON WEDNESDAY A PLAINFIELD MAN SURRENDERED TO POLICE IN CONNECTION WITH A SHOOTING

     "Sayyid Acosta Surrendered To New Brunswick Police In Connection With The April 5, 2024, Shooting That Injured 2."

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ.- A 21-Year-Old Suspect Wanted in connection with a Shooting that occurred near The Rutgers University Campus in the early morning hours on April 5, 2024, Surrendered to Authorities on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at The New Brunswick Police Department.



     According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone, On April 5, 2024, just around 2:00 a.m., Members of The New Brunswick Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a Shooting at 66 Easton Avenue in New Brunswick.


     Upon arrival, Police Officers found Two Victims, a Man and a Woman both suffering from Gunshot Wounds. The Two were immediately transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for Treatment.


     A Swift-Moving Investigation led by Detective Sean Freeman of The New Brunswick Police Department was able to Identify Four Suspects who were involved in an altercation that led to Shots being Fired injuring The Man and The Woman.


     The following day, on April 6, 2024, Walter Rodriguez-Cardenas, 20, of Plainfield, New Jersey was Arrested at his Residence and Formally Charged with Third Degree Armed Riot, for Engaging in Conduct with Four or More Others in which a Firearm was Used; and Third Hindering Apprehension of Another, for Driving the Suspected Shooter from The Scene of The Shooting.


     On the same day, on April 6, 2024, The Suspected Shooter, Christian Farmer, 22, of New Brunswick, New Jersey, and Ryan Nasi, 22, of Hillsborough, New Jersey were Arrested together in Somerville, New Jersey. Farmer was Charged with Two Counts of First Degree Attempted Murder; Second Degree Aggravated Assault; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. 


     On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, Sayyid Acosta, 21, of Plainfield, New Jersey, Turned himself into The New Brunswick Police Department and was Formally Charged with Third Degree Armed Riot.


     All Four following their Arrests, were Processed on The Charges and were Remanded to The Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending Future Court Proceedings in Middlesex County Superior Court. The current Custody Status of all Four is unknown at this time.
