"Amanda Rivera Was Charged On Monday In Connection With The February 3, 2024, Jersey City Crash That Killed A Bayonne Woman."

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- On Monday, a 28-Year-Old Staten Island, New York woman was Taken into Custody and Charged in connection with a Jersey City Car Crash, that Tragically Claimed The Life of a 31-Year-Old Bayonne, New Jersey woman and Injured a 27-Year-Old woman from Old Bridge, New Jersey.
According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, on Monday, March 4, 2024, Detectives of The Hudson County Regional Collision Unit Formally Charged Amanda Rivera, 28, of Staten Island, New York, with First Degree Aggravated Manslaughter; Second Degree Reckless Manslaughter; and Fourth Degree Assault by Auto.
Ms. Rivera was Taken into Custody at The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office in Secaucus, New Jersey, and Processed on The Charges. Following being Charged, Ms. Rivera was transported to The Hudson County Correctional Facility pending Future Court Proceedings in Hudson County Superior Court.
The Charges Stem from an incident, when on Saturday, February 3, 2024, shortly before 12:30 a.m., Members of The Jersey City Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a Serious Motor Vehicle Collision on Route 185 near The Linden Avenue East Intersection.
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a 2019 Nissan Sedan that had Collided with the Rear of a Parked and Unoccupied Tractor Trailer. Three Female Occupants were immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center. Ms. Rivera and the Front Seat Passenger, a 27-Year-Old woman from Old Bridge, were treated for Non-Life Threatening Injuries. The Back Seat Passenger, later identified as Stephanie Weymouth, 31, of Bayonne, New Jersey. Despite Life-Saving Efforts by Medical Staff, Tragically succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased shortly after 1:00 a.m.
A subsequent investigation by Members of The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit determined that Ms. Rivera was Driving While Intoxicated at the time of the collision.
