A DRUG-FUELED DOMESTIC DISPUTE RESULTS IN A 47-YEAR-OLD MAN BEING CHARGED WITH TEN OFFENSES

LOPATCONG, NJ.- A 47-Year-Old Stewartsville, New Jersey man was Taken into Custody and Charged following a Domestic Incident that unfolded when the man while apparently under the influence of an Illicit Narcotic, Threatened to Shoot and Kill an occupant of the residence with a Firearm, then Fled the scene, leading Police on a High-Speed Chase only to return to the residence and Peacefully Surrender to Police Officers.
According to Warren County Prosecutor James L. Pfeiffer, on Monday, November 6, 2023, Members of The Lopatcong Township Police Department responded to a Residence in Stewartsville, New Jersey after receiving a 911 Emergency Call from a Victim who had Fled the Residence after a Domestic Dispute.
An ensuing investigation by responding Police Officers revealed Khamtoune Singto, 47, of Stewartsville, New Jersey, had Pointed a Loaded .22 .22-Caliber Long Rifle at the Victim and Threatened to Shoot and Kill the Victim. During the dispute, the Victim was able to flee the Residence to safety and contact 911. When Police Officers approached the Residence, Mr. Singto was able to enter the Victim's Vehicle and Drive around Police Officers over the lawn and onto the roadway.
Police Officers initiated a Chase, pursuing Mr. Singto onto Route 519, as Speeds reached over 100 Miles Per Hour, Police Officers Terminated the Chase. While investigating at the Residence Police Officers were able to locate the Rifle loaded with a Magazine that contained 17 Hollow Point Bullets. Further investigation determined that because of a past incident, a Court Order Prohibited Mr. Singto from Owning or Possessing Firearms.
Later in the evening, Police Officers learned that Mr. Singto had returned to the Residence. When confronted by Police Officers, a brief standoff occurred and shortly thereafter Police Officers were able to negotiate with Singto to Surrender Peacefully to Officers. During the Arrest, Police Officers found a Small Glassine Bag that contained Suspected Crystal Methamphetamine.
Accordingly, Mr. Singto was Formally Charged with Second Degree Eluding Authorities; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Third Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; Third Degree Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons; Third Degree Terroristic Threats; Third Degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance; Fourth Degree Aggravated Assault; Two Counts of Fourth Degree Possession of a Prohibited Weapons or Device; and Fourth Degree Unlawful Taking.
Mr. Singto was Processed on The Charges and Remanded to The Warren County Jail pending Future Court Proceedings.
