A 33-YEAR-OLD PATERSON MAN WILL SPEND THE REST OF HIS LIFE IN PRISON FOR THE MURDER OF A PREGNANT WOMAN

PATERSON, NJ.- Yesterday, a 33-Year-Old Paterson man was Sentenced to Life in New Jersey State Prison for the October 2020 Fatal Shooting of Remy Lee, who at the time of her death was 9-Months Pregnant.
Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes reported that on Thursday, November 16, 2023, The Honorable Justine A. Niccollai, J.S.C. Sentenced Donqua Thomas, 33, of Paterson, New Jersey, to a Term of Life of Imprisonment for The Shooting Death of Remy Lee on Thursday, October 29, 2020, in a Parking Lot of an Apartment Complex in Paterson, New Jersey.
During the Trial, The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office presented evidence that on Thursday, October 29, 2020, just shortly after 1:30 p.m., Mr. Thomas Shot Ms. Lee Four Times outside her Apartment located on Christina Place in Paterson. Ms. Lee was Nine Months Pregnant with Mr. Thomas' Child at the time of the Murder. People ran to the side of Ms. Lee after she was Shot, including Ms. Lee's Mother, at which time Ms. Lee identified Mr. Thomas as the individual who Shot her. Ms. Lee was transported to Saint Joseph's University Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries and Died. Ms. Lee's Child was successfully Delivered and Survived the Shooting.
The subsequent investigation by Members of The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office in conjunction with The Paterson Police Department determined that Mr. Thomas sat in his vehicle in the Parking Lot of Ms. Lee's Apartment for 90 minutes before she returned home. As Ms. Thomas exited her car, Mr. Thomas Shot at her from inside his car and then fled the Area.
On June 21, 2023, at the conclusion of his trial, The Jury found Mr. Thomas Guilty of First Degree Murder and Three Weapons Offenses.
