UNION CITY PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEE DIES AFTER BEING STRUCK BY A VEHICLE

     " Fortunato Rojas-Solis Dies Of Injuries He Sustained After Being Struck By A Vehicle Being Operated By An Unlicensed Driver."

UNION CITY, NJ.- Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported that Detectives are investigating a Wednesday Morning Motor Vehicle Collision that has claimed the Life of a 73-Year-Old Union City Public Works Employee.

     On Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at approximately 7:36 a.m., Members of The Union City Police Department responded to the area of Palisade Avenue and 36th Street in Union City on a report that a Pedestrian had been Struck by a Motor Vehicle.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, later identified as Fortunato Rojas-Solis, 73, of Union City, New Jersey, suffering from Life-Threatening Injuries after being Struck. Mr. Rojas-Solis was immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 5:15 p.m.

     Based on the preliminary investigation, Authorities determined that Mr. Rojas-Solis while working in his capacity as a Union City Public Works Employee was Struck by a Dodge Durango, being operated by a 16-Year-Old unlicensed male.

     The Hudson County Regional Collision Unit and The Union City Police Department are actively investigating this incident. Anyone with information, or who may have witnessed this collision is asked to contact The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office at (201) 915-1345.
