NEWARK, NJ.- Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II reported that Detectives of The Essex County Homicide Task Force in conjunction with The Newark Police Department are actively investigating the Fatal Stabbing of a 66-Year-Old Newark Woman that occurred yesterday afternoon in Newark.

     On Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at approximately 1:41 p.m., Members of The Newark Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an Unresponsive Woman on The 200 Block of Sunset Avenue in Newark, New Jersey.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a Woman, later identified as Annie D, Gooden, 66, of Newark, suffering from Multiple Stab Wounds, Ms. Gooden succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.
