ISELIN MAN CHARGED IN FATAL HIGHLAND PARK CRASH THAT HAS KILLED TWO MARYLAND RESIDENTS

HIGHLAND PARK, NJ.- Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone reported that a 34-Year-Old Iselin, New Jersey Man has been Charged in connection with The Fatal Crash that claimed the Lives of Two Maryland Residents, that occurred late Yesterday Afternoon on Route 27 in Highland Park, New Jersey.
On Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at approximately 5:32 p.m., Members of The Highland Park Police Department responded to the intersection of Route 27 and North 10th Street in Highland Park on a report of a Motor Vehicle Crash that had just occurred.
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a Mercedes operated by Abeer Viriani, 34, of Iselin, New Jersey, who had Struck a Subaru that was Occupied by Peter Palmer, 75, of Easton, Maryland, and Carol Paul, 77, of Easton, Maryland. Both Mr. Palmer and Ms. Paul were pronounced deceased at the scene. Mr. Viriani also Struck a Hyundai Elantra, the Driver of the Elantra sustained minor injuries. Mr. Viriani also sustained serious injuries in the crash. Both Viriani and the Driver of the Elantra were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment.
Following an initial investigation, Mr. Viriani was Charged at the hospital with Two Counts of First Degree Aggravated Manslaughter; and Two Counts of Vehicular Homicide. Mr. Viriani is currently being detained and will be scheduled for a Pretrial Detention Hearing which will be held in Middlesex County State Superior Court in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
