NEWARK, NJ.- A 49-Year-Old Newark, New Jersey man tragically lost his life early Sunday morning, after being struck by a Motor Vehicle while crossing Springfield Avenue in Newark.
Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II reported that on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at approximately 1:55 a.m., Members of The Newark Police Department responded to The 600 Block of Springfield Avenue in Newark on a report that a man had been struck by a Motor Vehicle.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Laquan Lamar Jones, 49, of Newark, Unresponsive after Being Struck by a Motor Vehicle. Mr. Jones was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No Arrests have been made. The Essex County Prosecutor's Office asks anyone with information or who may have witnessed the collision to contact The Essex County Prosecutor's Office Tips Line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
