Egg Harbor Township Man Pleads Guilty

36-YEAR-OLD EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO DISTRIBUTION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

      " William Roman Will Face A State Prison Term Of 12-Years After Pleading Guilty To Second Degree Endangering The Welfare Of A Child."

MAYS LANDING, NJ,- Atlantic County Prosecutor William Reynolds reported that on Monday, April 17, 2023, William Roman, 36, Of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, Pleaded Guilty to Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child for Possession with Intent to Distribute Child Pornography.



     In exchange for his Plea, Mr. Roman will be Sentenced to a 12-Year Term in New Jersey State Prison. Due to a Prior 2017 Conviction brought by The New Jersey Attorney's Office for Endangering the Welfare of a Child, for Possession of Child Pornography, Mr. Roman was Eligible for Enhanced Sentencing Guidelines.


     Following an Investigation by The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office High-Tech Crimes Unit which began when The Prosecutor's Office received information regarding Mr. Roman's Online Activities from The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The investigation uncovered that Mr. Roman was Sharing Child Sexual Abuse Material on Snapchat, a popular Instant Message and File-Sharing Application, and Possessed Digital Images of Nude and or Sexually Explicit Prepubescent and or Pubescent Children, with the Intent to Distribute such images to others in hopes of Building his Collection of Child Sexual Abuse Material.


     The investigation was conducted by Members of The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office High-Tech Crimes Unit, in conjunction with The Department of Homeland Security Investigations-Atlantic City Unit and The Egg Harbor Police Department.


     Sentencing in The Matter has been Scheduled for August 17, 2023, in front of The Honorable Donna Taylor, J.S.C.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ.- On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, The New Jersey State Policemen's Benevolent Association held " A Proper Tribute to Honor The Public Safety Officials, who gave their lives during The Covid-19 Global Pandemic. 


     The Three-Mile Long Procession had over 100 Vehicles and 25 Motor Units that began at The PNC Arts Center Parking Lot in Holmdel, New Jersey, before reaching its Destination at Epic Church in Sayreville, New Jersey, Honoring the Fallen Heros that gave their lives on The Frontlines of The Pandemic in keeping The Residents of New Jersey Safe. The Service also Honored the Families of those lost. Over 30 Honor Guards participated with New Jersey State Police Superintendent Patrick Callahan as Master of Ceremony, who was joined by New Jersey Attorney General Matt Platkin and New Jersey Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin in Honoring the 45 Public Safety Officials.



     Viewers lined Garden State Parkway overpasses to view the Procession and Pay Tribute to The Fallen Officials.


     New Jersey State PBA President Pat Colligan said, " I would like to thank everyone who participated in Wednesday's Procession, anyone who joined us at Epic Church, and also the many people who took a moment to pay their respects to our fallen brothers and sisters on the Parkway today. Superintendent Callahan's words were a true inspiration and I know the families we honored today will never forget the outpouring of emotion and support put forward by so many."



     " We were proud to have the opportunity to partner with so many other public safety representatives to give the 45 public safety professionals and their families the proper tribute they deserve," said President Colligan. " These brave men and women were not afforded the ability to work remotely or 'Zoom' to their calls and, instead, they were directly on the front lines in the middle of the global pandemic."

NEWARK, NJ.- On Friday, April 28, 2023, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II reported that a Jury sitting in Essex County, New Jersey, Convicted Ahmir Worthy, 29, of Newark, New Jersey, of Aggravated Assault for Beating his 23-Year-Old Girlfriend, which was deemed an Act of Domestic Violence, that caused her Significant Bodily Injury.



     According to The Prosecutor's Office, Mr. Worthy and his Girlfriend were at a Party in Newark in August 2019. When the Two got into a Verbal Altercation, Mr. Worthy began to Punch, Kick, and Slam his Girlfriend Against a Wall Multiple Times. Worthy's Girlfriend was then taken to Saint Michael's Medical Center in Newark, and then Due to the extent of her injuries was transported to University Hospital where she was treated for a Concussion, Contusions, and Deep Bruising.


     On Thursday, April 27, 2023, Following a Three-Day Trial in Essex County State Superior Court, the Jury found Mr. Worthy Guilty of One Count of Third Degree Aggravated Assault. 


     Sentencing in the matter has been Scheduled for June 26, 2023, at which time Mr. Worthy will face a Term of up to Five-Years in New Jersey State Prison.


     " I would like to thank the victim for her bravery in coming forward and testifying in this case," said Assistant Prosecutor Monica Calderon who tried the case. " The jury returned a just verdict that will provide closure and justice for the victim."

Trenton, New Jersey Man Charged

TRENTON MAN CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH THE SHOOTING DEATH OF DANIEL GARVIN

TRENTON, NJ.- Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported that a 34-Year-Old Trenton, New Jersey has been taken into custody in connection with the April 14, 2023, Shooting Death of Daniel Garvin, 46, of Trenton, New Jersey.



     According to The Prosecutor's Office, Rasheed Funderburg, 34, of Trenton, New Jersey has been Charged with One Count of First Degree Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Mr. Funderburg was Processed on the Charges and Remanded to The Mercer County Correctional Center. The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office has Filed a Pretrial Detention Motion to have Mr. Funderburg detained Pending Trial.


     On April 14, 2023, at approximately 8:21 p.m., Members of The Trenton Police Department responded to a Multiple ShotSpotter Activation in the area of 328 Rutherford Street in Trenton, New Jersey. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Daniel Garvin, 46, of Trenton on the Ground in an area behind 330 and 332 Rutherford Avenue suffering from a Gunshot Wound to his Chest. Mr. Garvin was immediately transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased.


     During the investigation, Detectives learned that prior to the Shooting, Mr. Funderburg had engaged in a Physical Altercation with a younger man at a Liquor Store located on Prospect Street. The younger man Fled around the Corner to Rutherford Avenue and several individuals, including Mr. Funderburg followed him. Mr Funderburg was seen picking up a Hangun and approaching an Alleyway that the younger man had run down. Mr. Funderburg then Fired several Shots Down the Alleyway from the Street. Mr. Garvin was Struck Three Times by Gunfire as he walked through the Alleyway.


     The Charges are the result of an investigation by The Mercer County Homicide Task Force in conjunction with The Trenton Police Department. Anyone with information regarding the Fatal Shooting of Mr. Garvin is asked to contact The Mercer County Homicide Task Force at (609) 989-6406.

FANWOOD, NJ.- Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel reported yesterday that Following an Investigation a Fanwood, New Jersey Chiropractor has been Charged with Sexual Misconduct, upon a Female Patient.


     Grant L. Babbitt, 70, of Fanwood, New Jersey, has been Charged with One Count of Criminal Sexual Contact.


     Earlier this month, Members of The Fanwood Police Department received a report from a 30-Year-Old Woman who was a Patient of Doctor Babbitt that she was inappropriately touched in a Sexual Manner by the Doctor. The report was also referred to The Union County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit.


     According to Authorities, the investigation by Detectives determined that the Alleged Incident occurred at Doctor Babbitt's Martine Avenue Office while the Woman was being treated by Doctor Babbitt. 


     On Tuesday, April 25, 2023, Doctor Babbitt was Arrested and Charged with One Count of Criminal Sexual Contact. Babbitt was Processed on the Charge and released on a Summons pending a May 25, 2023, First Appearance in Union County State Superior Court in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Passaic, New Jersey Shooting Investigation

PASSAIC, NJ.- Passaic County Authorities reported that Today, April 27, 2023, at approximately 6:21 a.m., Members of The Passaic Police Department responded to the area of Delaware and Howe Avenues in Passaic, on a report of Shots being Fired. 


     Upon arrival, Police Officers a crime scene and Two Motor Vehicles that had been Struck by Gunfire. Police Officers were unable to locate any victims.


     The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information may become available, once released by Authorities.

METUCHEN, NJ.- Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone reported that Two Juveniles were Arrested yesterday and have been Charged with a Juvenile Delinquency Complaint equivalent to an Adult Charge of Fourth Degree Criminal Trespass.



     On Wednesday Morning, April 26, 2023, Two Unidentified Juveniles who were not Students entered Metuchen High School. Shortly after entering the School, Staff Members identified them as not being Students of The School. Out of an abundance of caution and to continue a search, the School was Placed on Lockdown Status.


     Following an Investigation by Members of The Metuchen Police Department in conjunction with The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office concluded there was No Active or Further Threat to Students, Staff, or The School.

EWING, NJ.- On Wednesday Afternoon a 35-Year-Old Ewing man after Shooting a man peacefully surrenders to Mercer County Authorities after a Standoff with Police.


     Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported that on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at approximately 2:17 p.m., Members of The Ewing Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call that a man had been Shot at 75 Sussex Street in Ewing, New Jersey.


     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Dehaven Rogers lying on the Front Yard of the Residence. Police Officers removed Mr. Rogers from Danger and immediately transported him to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, where he succumbed to his injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased a short time later.


     The Suspect, Amir Williams, 35, of Ewing was spotted by Police Officers in the Front Right Window of the residence and refused to come out. Police Officers established a perimeter around the residence after Mr. Williams refused to exit the residence. After speaking with Police Officers, Mr. Williams eventually surrendered to Authorities and exited through the Front Door with his Hands Raised, and was Placed into Custody.


     Additional investigation by Members of The Mercer County Homicide Task Force led to Mr. Williams being Charged with One Count of First Degree Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Mr. Williams was Processed on the Charges and Remanded to The Mercer County Correctional Center, pending his First Appearance and Detention Hearing in Mercer County State Superior Court.

CLIFFSIDE PARK, NJ.- Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella reported that following an investigation a 39-Year-Old Married Cliffside Park, New Jersey man was Arrested and Charged with Possessing Child Pornography.


     On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, Members of The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Cyber Crimes Unit Executed a Court Authorized Search Warrant at the home of Valter Garcia-Cordova, during the course of a Months-Long Internet Child Sexual Abuse Material investigation. During the investigation, Detectives determined that Mr. Garcia-Cordova on Multiple Occasions used the Internet to View, Download and Possess Items Depicting Nude and or Sexually Explicit Prepubescent and Pubescent Children Engaged in Sexual Activity.


     Accordingly, On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, Mr. Garcia-Cordova was Arrested at The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office in Secaucus, New Jersey, and Formally Charged with One Count of Second Degree Possession of Child Pornography. Mr. Garica-Cordova was Processed on the Charge and transported to The Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, New Jersey, pending his First Appearance today in Central Judicial Processing Court.

Montclair, New Jersey Man Charged

25-YEAR-OLD MONTCLAIR MAN CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH A SEPTEMBER 10, 2022 SEXUAL ASSAULT

SECAUCUS, NJ.- Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported that following an investigation, on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, Members of The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit Arrested an Essex County, New Jersey man for the September 10, 2022, Sexual Assault that occurred at a Secaucus Hotel.



     Fokam Parfait, 25, of Montclair, New Jersey, was Arrested at The Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, New Jersey, where Mr. Parfait is being Detained on Sexual Assault Charges.


     Mr. Parfait was Formally Charged with One Count of First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; Second Degree Aggravated Assault; and First Degree Kidnapping. The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office has Filed a Pretrial Detention Motion in this case, which is tentatively scheduled for May 10, 2023, in Hudson County State Superior Court.


     On Tuesday, March 30, 2023, The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit was notified that a 28-Year-Old Woman reported being Sexually Assaulted at a Hotel located on Meadowlands Parkway in Secaucus, New Jersey on Saturday, September 10, 2022. The Woman reported that she was Sexually Assaulted, and had sustained Head and Facial Injuries, and was prevented from leaving the Hotel Room during the course of the Assault. Mr. Parfait met the Woman through an Online Dating App.

BAYONNE, NJ.- Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported that The Hudson County Regional Collision Unit and The Bayonne Police Department are actively investigating a Crash in which a Pedestrian was Fatally Struck by a Vehicle on Monday, April 24, 2023.


     On Monday, April 24, 2023, at approximately 11:50 a.m., Members of The Bayonne Police Department responded to the area of East 22nd Street and Broadway on a report of a Pedestrian being Struck by a Motor Vehicle. Upon arrival, Police Officers located a woman, later identified as Maryann Patey, 74, of Bayonne, New Jersey, with a serious head injury.


     Ms. Patey was immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injury and was subsequently pronounced deceased at 12:46 p.m.


     The Vehicle that Struck Ms. Patey, a Black Nissan operated by a Bayonne Woman remained at the scene.

Phillipsburg Man Additionally Charged

MAN FIRST CHARGED WITH WEAPON OFFENSES NOW FACES NARCOTICS CHARGES

PHILLIPSBURG, NJ.- On Monday, April 24, 2023, Warren County Prosecutor James L. Pfeiffer reported that an Eighteen-Year-Old Phillipsburg, New Jersey man Charged with Weapons Offenses has been Additionally Charged with Narcotics Offenses.


     On April 10, 2023, Members of The Phillipsburg Police Department responded to the area of Fisher and Kneedler Avenues on a report that a Nissan Murano had been seen Firing Gunshots at a Group Of People. During the investigation, Police Officers were able to locate the vehicle, which was registered to Jeffery S. Carthens, 18, of Phillipsburg, New Jersey. Subsequently, Mr. Carthens was Arrested and Charged with Two Second Degree and Fourth Degree Weapons Charges.


     A Court Authorized Search Warrant was obtained for Mr. Carthens' Vehicle, and as a Result of the Search, Detectives recovered a Plastic Bag containing 329 Suspected Oxycodone Pills.


     Accordingly, Mr. Carthens was Additionally Charged with One Count of Third Degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance; and One Count of Third Degree Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance. 


     Mr. Carthens was Processed on the Additional Charges and remanded to The Warren County Jail pending a Detention Hearing.

Ewing, New Jersey Man Charged

FOURTH SUSPECT ARRESTED IN EASTER SUNDAY TRENTON HOMICIDE

     " Bayshawn Brown Was Taken Into Custody Last Thursday & Charged In Connection To The Easter Sunday Fatal Shooting Of Jhosse Tolentino."

TRENTON, NJ.- Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported that on Thursday, April 20, 2023, a 22-Year-Old Ewing, New Jersey man has been Arrested and Charged in connection to The Easter Sunday Fatal Shooting on Federal Street in Trenton, New Jersey. The man is the Fourth Suspect Arrested in the Shooting Death of Jhosse Tolentino.



     Bayshawn Brown, 22, of Ewing, New Jersey, was Taken into Custody last Thursday in Florence Township, New Jersey. Mr. Brown has been Formally Charged along with Joseph Fayson, Justin Malkin, and Darrin Eutsey, with First Degree Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and Third Degree Receiving Stolen Property. The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office has Filed a Pretrial Detention Motions to have all Four Detained pending Trial.


     As previously reported, on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023, at approximately 6:56 p.m., Members of The Trenton Police Department responded to a Multi-ShotSpotter Activation in the area of Lamberton and Federal Streets in Trenton. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Jhosse Tolentino, 23, of Trenton, Unresponsive in the Driver's Seat of his car from Multiple Gunshot Wounds. Mr. Tolention was immediately transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.


     Mr. Brown was the Fourth Person seen on Video Surveillance exiting the Toyota 4Runner and approaching Mr. Tolentino's Vehicle with a Firearm in hand. All Four Shot at the vehicle then returned to the 4Runner and Fled the scene.

RIVERTON MAN CHARGED IN LAST THURSDAY FATAL STABBING AT THE RODEWAY INN HOTEL

     " Taylor Perkins Has Been Charged With Murder & Weapons Offenses In The Stabbing Death Of Michael Jefferies."

MOUNT LAUREL, NJ.- Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw reported that a 29-Year-Old Riverton, New Jersey man was taken into Custody and Charged with Fatally Stabbing a man last Thursday at The Rodeway Inn located on Route 73 in Mount Laurel, New Jersey.



     Taylor Perkins, 29, of Riverton, New Jersey has been Charged with One Count of First Degree Murder; Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Third Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Mr. Perkins was Taken into Custody on Friday, April 21, 2023, in Camden, New Jersey, and Remanded to The Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly, New Jersey.


     On Thursday, April 20, 2023, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Members of The Mount Laurel Police Department responded to The Rodeway Inn on a report of Two Men Fighting. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Michael Jefferies, 36, unresponsive on the ground outside of a second-floor room near a stairwell, from apparent Stab Wounds. Mr. Jefferies was pronounced deceased at the scene. 


     A swift-moving investigation by Members of The Burlington County Prosecutor's Office and The Mount Laurel Police Department was able to identify Mr. Perkins as a Suspect and the individual responsible for the Death of Mr. Jefferies. 


     The investigation further determined that after Stabbing Mr. Jefferies, Mr. Perkins fled on foot to a nearby BMW Dealership and drove off in a Sport Utility Vehicle. Perkins then abandoned the Sport Utility Vehicle in Evesham, New Jersey, and Stole a Truck belonging to an Xfinity worker who was up on a ladder. Mr. Perkins was later apprehended at a residence in Camden, New Jersey.

PATERSON, NJ.- Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes reported that Detectives are continuing to investigate a late Sunday Night Shooting that left a 26-Year-Old Paterson man Hospitalized in Newark, New Jersey.


     On Monday, April 24, 2023, at approximately 1:21 a.m., Members of The Paterson Police Department responded to University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey on a report that a 26-Year-Old Paterson, New Jersey man had arrived at the Hospital reporting that he had been Shot in Paterson, New Jersey.


     After the initial investigation by Police Officer and after speaking with the man, it was determined that the man was Struck by Gunfire in the area of Presidential Boulevard and Temple Street in Paterson, New Jersey on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at approximately 11:45 p.m.


      The investigation remains active and ongoing and at this time No Arrests have been made. HACKENSACK, NJ.- On Friday, April 21, 2023, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella reported that on April 19, 2023, Francis Tottoli was Sentenced to 55 Years in New Jersey State Prison after being Convicted of Murder, Kidnapping, & Felony Murder in connection with The Death of Monet Thomas, 25, of East Rutherford, New Jersey, that occurred in December of 2016.



     On December 17, 2016, Mr. Tottoli, was the downstairs neighbor of Ms. Thomas, who both were residing in a building located at 258 Summer Street in East Rutherford, New Jersey. At just around 9:00 p.m., on December 17, 2016, while Ms. Thomas was returning home from walking her dog. Mr. Tottoli attacked Ms. Thomas in the common hallway of the apartment complex, Dragged her by the Throat into his Apartment, and Strangled her to Death.



     On November 1, 2022, a Jury sitting in Bergen County, New Jersey Convicted Mr. Tottoli of Kidnapping Ms. Thomas from the hallway of the Apartment Complex and Murdering her. On April 19, 2023, during a Court Proceeding The Honorable Margaret M. Foti, J.S.C., Sentenced Mr. Tottoli to 55 Years in New Jersey State Prison, The Sentence is Subject to The No Early Release Act, which will require Mr. Totolli to Serve Eighty-Five Percent of his Custodial Prison Term.

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported that Detectives of The Hudson County Homicide Unit and The Jersey City Police Department are investigating The Shooting Death of a 23-Year-Old man inside a Business on Danforth Avenue in Jersey City.


     On Sunday, April 23, 2023, just minutes after midnight, Members of The Jersey City Police Department responded to a Business located on Danforth Avenue in The City on a report of Shots Fired. 


     Upon arrival, Police Officers located an Unresponsive man, later identified as Khalil King, 23, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, inside a retail business located at 152 Danforth Avenue in Jersey City, having sustained a Fatal Gunshot Wound. Mr. King was pronounced deceased at 12:16 a.m. The Cause and Manner of Death are pending the findings of The Hudson County Regional Medical Examiner's Office.


     The investigation remains active and ongoing and no Arrests have been made at this time. Trenton, New Jersey Homicide Investigation

TRENTON, NJ.- Today, The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office reported that The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and The Trenton Police Department are actively investigating a Quadruple Shooting on Hamilton Avenue that Claimed the Life of a Lawrence Man and left Three Hospitalized.



     On Thursday, April 20, 2023, at approximately 10:28 p.m., Members of The Trenton Police Department responded to The 200 Block of Hamilton Avenue in The City on a report of a Shooting with Multiple Victims. 


     Upon arrival, Police Officers found Three Victims suffering from Multiple Gunshot Wounds. While the Three Victims were being transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, Police Officers were notified that another victim, identified as Ralph Conquest, 43, of Lawrence, New Jersey had arrived at Capital Health Regional Medical Center by Personal Vehicle, where Mr. Conquest succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 1:53 a.m. this morning.


     Another man remains Hospitalized in Critical Condition, and the other Two Victims a Man and a Woman are being treated for Non-Life Threatening Gunshot Wounds.

MOUNT LAUREL, NJ.- Burlington County Authorities reported that an investigation continues into the Death of a man whose body was yesterday morning at The Rodeway Inn located on Route 73 in Mount Laurel, New Jersey.



     On Thursday, April 20, 2023, just before 10:00 a.m., Members of The Mount Laurel Police Department responded to The Rodeway Inn in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, on a report of an Unresponsive Man. Upon arrival, Police Officer found the Body of a man, whose name is being withheld at this time, outside of a room near a Stairwell.


     An autopsy will be conducted by The Burlington County Medical Examiner's Office to determine the Cause and the Manner of Death.


     A Person of interest has been taken into Custody, additional information will follow today. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
