THREE BERGEN COUNTY MEN CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH SATURDAY'S HACKENSACK SHOOTING

HACKENSACK, NJ.- Today, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced that Three Bergen County Men have been Charged in Saturday's Double Shooting at a Barbershop in the area of Essex and Lehigh Streets in Hackensack, New Jersey.
Dior Alston, 21, of South Hackensack, New Jersey was Arrested Today, and Charged with First Degree Murder; First Degree Attempted Murder; First Degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and Fourth Degree Stalking. Mr. Alston was processed on the Charges and remanded to The Bergen County Jail.
Malik Abel, 21, of Maywood, New Jersey was Arrested Today, and Charged with First Degree Murder; First Degree Attempted Murder; First Degree Conspiracy; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and Fourth Degree Stalking. Mr. Abel was processed on the Charges and remanded to The Bergen County Jail.
Rayshawn Powel-Myhand, 19, of Hackensack, New Jersey was Arrested Today, and Charged with Third Degree Hindering Apprehension. Mr. Powel-Myhand was processed on the Charge and remanded to The Bergen County Jail.
On Saturday, November 12, 2022, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Members of The Hackensack Police Department responded to the area of Essex and Lehigh Streets in Hackensack on a report of Multiple Shots Fired. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man who sustained a non-life threatening Gunshot Wound. A second man, later identified as Vidal R. Nieves, 28, of Maywood, New Jersey. Both men were immediately transported to Hackensack University Medical Center where Mr. Nieves succumbed to his injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased.
An extensive and swift moving investigation conducted By The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and The Hackensack Police Department determined that Mr. Alston Fatally Shot Mr. Nieves and that Mr. Abel was an accomplice to Alston, while Mr. Powel-Myhand attempted to conceal evidence of the Crimes.
All three will make their First Appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
