Fatal Hit And Run Investigation

OCEAN COUNTY AUTHORITIES CONTINUE TO INVESTIGATE AN EARLY SUNDAY MORNING HIT AND RUN

     " After Striking A Woman Early Sunday Morning, Driver Exits Vehicle Looks At The Woman And Then Flees The Scene Leaving Her To Die In Roadway."

TOMS RIVER, NJ.- On Sunday, October 23, 2022, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Toms River Township Police Chief Mitch Little announced that Detectives are actively investigating a Fatal Hit and Run Accident that has claimed the life of a 28-Year-Old Woman.


     On Sunday, October 23, 2022, at approximately 2:10 a.m., Members of The Toms River Township Police responded to the area of Massachusetts Avenue and Route 70 on a report of a Pedestrian being Struck by a Vehicle.


     Upon arrival, Police Officers located a 28-Year-Old woman lying in the roadway having sustained serious injuries. Emergency Medical Service Personnel immediately performed lifesaving measures. Medics were able to regain a pulse and the woman was immediately rushed to Southern Monmouth Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased.


     According to a witness, the vehicle is a Dark Colored 2003-2009 Ford Explorer. The Explorer sustained significant damage to the front passenger side including an inoperable headlight and major hood damage. The witness further observed the Driver of the Explorer after striking the woman, the Driver Exited the Explorer looked at the woman and then fled the scene leaving the woman lying in the roadway.


     The Driver has  been described as a White Male, Tall with a Thin Build, having Blonde or Reddish Hair.
