Plainfield Man Sentenced To Prison

AFTER BEING SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR A 2014 ROBBERY A PLAINFIELD MAN IS SENTENCED FOR A 2015 ROBBERY

     " Thomas H. Outland Was Sentenced To 9-Years In State Prison For The 2015 Scotch Plain's McDonalds Armed Robbery."

ELIZABETH, NJ.- On Friday, August 26, 2022, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel announced a Plainfield, New Jersey man has been sentenced to a term of Nine Years in New Jersey State Prison for the 2015 Scotch Plains, New Jersey Robbery.



     During a Friday, August 26, 2022, hearing in Union County Superior Court. A Superior Court Judged Sentenced Mr. Outland to Nine Years in Prison with an Eighty-Five Percent Term of Service before Parole Eligibility pursuant to The No Early Release Act. Outland's sentence will run Consecutive to a Sixteen Year Sentence for a 2014 Robbery.


     According to The Prosecutor's Office, On September 4, 2015, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Outland and an unidentified co-conspirator entered the Route 22 McDonalds through a unlocked door, wearing masks and brandishing firearms.


     Upon entering, the unidentified man started demanding cash and cell phones from some of the employees, who were cleaning the restaurant at the end of their shift. While the unidentified man was robbing the employees, Mr. Outland a former employee of of the McDonalds, started walking towards the Manager's Office where the safe was located.


     An employee noticed that the firearm that Mr. Outland was brandishing was fake, at which time Mr. Outland removed his mask and told employees that the robbery was a practical joke. Outland and the unidentified man returned the cell phones and left the restaurant.


     Following  an investigation by Members of The Scotch Plains Police Department, Mr. Outland was Arrested and Charged in 2016 with the Robbery.
