PATERSON, NJ.- Two separate within six hours in Paterson, New Jersey, Gunfire has claimed the lives of a Paterson Man and a Garfield man.
On Sunday, August 21, 2022, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announced that on August 20, 2022, at approximately 10:30 p.m., an Off-Duty Paterson Police Officers heard gunshots coming from the area of Colonial Avenue in Paterson, New Jersey. Members of The Paterson Police Department located a crime scene in the area of 51 Colonial Avenue but did not locate a victim.
A short time later, Police Officers were notified, a 29-Year-Old Paterson man was transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center where he succumbed to his injury and was subsequently pronounced deceased from a gunshot wound.
In a separate incident, on Sunday, August 21, 2022, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announced that on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at approximately 4:00 a.m., Members of The Paterson Police Department responded to the area of North Main Street and Haledon Avenue in Paterson, New Jersey on a report of a Shooting.
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a 24-Year-Old Garfield, New Jersey, on the ground having sustained a gunshot wound. The man was immediately transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center where he succumbed to his injury and was subsequently pronounced deceased.
The investigations in both incident remain active and ongoing. More information may become available once released by authorities.
