Man Charged In 2019 Homicide

ATLANTIC CITY NEW JERSEY MAN CHARGED IN THE 2019 MURDER FOR HIRE SHOOTING DEATH

     " Khalif S. Toombs Of Atlantic City Has Been Charged In Connection To The Fatal Shooting Of Lamar King On January 1, 2019."

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ.- On Friday, August 12, 2022, Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds announced that a 32-Year-Old Atlantic City man has been Charged in connection with the January 1, 2019 Fatal Shooting of Lamar King.



     Khalif Toombs, 32, of Atlantic City, New Jersey has been Charged with One Count of First Degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder; One Count of First Degree Accomplice in the Procurement of Murder by Promise of Payment; One Count of Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and One Count of Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.


     On January 1, 2019, Members of The Atlantic City Police Department responded to the area of The 700 Block of North Ohio Avenue on a report of a Shooting. Upon arrival, Police Officer found a victim, later identified as Lamar King inside a car, having succumbed to multiple Gunshot Wounds. Mr. King was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.


     A subsequent investigation conducted by Members of The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office in conjunction with The Atlantic City  Police Department led to the Shooter being identified and taken into custody in 2019. Further investigation determined that Mr. Toombs Hired the Shooter to Murder Mr. King.


     If Convicted Mr. Toombs will face a Mandatory Life Imprisonment in New Jersey State Prison, for Hiring another to Commit Murder.
