EARLY SUNDAY MORNING SHOOTING IN JERSEY CITY LEAVES ONE HOSPITALIZED AND ONE DEAD

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- On Sunday, August 7, 2022, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and The Jersey City Police Department are investigating a Shooting on Monticello Avenue in which one man has died and a second man was critically injured.
On Sunday, August 7, 2022, at approximately 3:02 a.m., Members of The Jersey City Police Department responded to the area of Monticello Avenue and Astor Place in Jersey City, on a report of Shots Fired.
Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered two victims, a 46-Year-Old man with an apparent gunshot wound to the middle body and a 49-Year-Old man with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body.
Both men were immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center where Keshean Nettles, 46, of Jersey City, succumbed to his injury and was subsequently pronounced deceased at approximately 3:35 a.m. The Cause and Manner of Death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. The 49-Year-Old man, a Jersey City resident, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this case. No arrests have been made at this time.
