FLORIDA MAN ADMITS TO FALSELY POSING AS MODELING AGENT IN ORDER TO OBTAIN SEXUAL EXPLICIT RECORDINGS OF A MINOR

FREEHOLD, NJ.- On Wednesday, February 23, 2022, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced a Florida man has admitted to Falsely Acting as a Modeling Agent in a scheme to Manipulate a Brielle Minor into sending him Sexually Explicit Images and Videos of Herself.
Joseph Germain, 31, of Casselberry, Florida has Pled Guilty to First Degree Manufacturing Child Sexual Abuse Material; and Second Degree Distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material. Pursuant to the Negotiated Plea Agreement, on Friday, May 13, 2022, Mr. Germain will be Sentenced to a New Jersey State Prison Term of Eight Years, Subject to The No Early Release Act, which will require Mr. Germain to Serve Eighty Five Percent of the Term before Parole Eligibility. Mr Germain will be required to register as Sex Offender pursuant to Megan's Law and will be subject to Parole Supervision for Life.
The investigation into Mr. Germain's activities was initiated by Members of The Brielle Police Department, which uncovered that several years ago, Mr. Germain created a false online identity, claiming to be an individual named "Alex" from a Company named "Elite Model Management," maintaining an Email Address alexxcaveelite@gmail.com.
In 2017, the investigation determined, Mr. Germain contacted a Juvenile who resided in Brielle, New Jersey, claiming he wanted to help her create a Modeling Portfolio and promising a $50,000. Contract. After the Girl agreed, Mr. Germain convinced her to electronically send him multiple Photos and Videos of herself in Sexually Explicit Poses.
During their Interactions, the girl openly indicated to Mr. Germain that she did not feel comfortable sending Photos and Videos due to her age. Germain persisted in demanding additional files. Several times, Mr. Germain sent her Fake Screenshots from an employee named "Cassandra," promising to release the money once the girls Portfolio was completed.
The Girl never received any payments, but did ultimately begin to receive text messages from multiple phone numbers claiming to be employees of "Elite Model Management," Threatening to Post her Photos and Videos to The Internet unless she sent additional explicit material.
The investigation concluded that Mr. Germain was responsible for the various threatening texts and for Posting the Videos Online. Mr. Germain was Arrested in Florida in 2019 and Extradited back to New Jersey for Prosecution.
