THIRD ARREST MADE IN THE JULY 3, 2021 HOMICIDE AT 159 FRANKLIN STREET PATERSON NEW JERSEY

PATERSON, NJ.- On Monday, January 10, 2022 Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announced that based upon a continuing investigation by The Paterson Police Department, in conjunction with The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, Dashawn A. Rhoden, 22, Paterson, New Jersey was Arrested on Thursday, December 30, 2021, in connection to a Homicide that took place on July 3, 2021, at 159 Franklin Street in Paterson, New Jersey.
Mr. Rhoden has been Charged with First Degree Murder; First Degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder; Second Possession of a Handgun for an Unlawful Purpose; and Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Handgun.
On Saturday, July 3, 2021, at approximately 10:02 p.m., Members of The Paterson Police Department responded to 159 Franklin Street in Paterson, New Jersey on a report of Shots Fired. Upon arrival, Police Officers located Juan Garcia, 28, of Paterson Lying on the Sidewalk with apparent Gunshot Wounds.
Paterson Police Officers immediately began providing medical attention to the victim and requested an ambulance. Upon the arrival of medical personnel, Mr. Garcia succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The ensuing investigation determined that Mr. Rhoden, along with Jeremiah Rosado and Imeir Tucker were the individuals responsible for the murder of Mr. Garcia. Mr. Rhoden was Charged with Murder and the Weapons Offenses while a Fugitive.
Mr. Rhoden was Arrested without incident on the outstanding Arrest Warrant on Thursday, December 30, 2021, during a motor vehicle stop on Route 46 West by The Elmwood Park Police Department, at approximately 3:58 p.m. Mr. Rosado was previously Arrested on July 8, 2021 by The Paterson Police Department, and Mr. Tucker was previously Arrested on July 6, 2021 by The Paterson Police Department.
If convicted, Mr. Rhoden will face the Sentencing Exposure on First Degree Murder is Thirty Years to Life in New Jersey State Prison; on First Degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder is Ten to Twenty Years in New Jersey State Prison; on both Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, both have a sentencing range of Five to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison with Forty Two Months to be served before Parole Eligibility.
The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office has filed a motion for Pretrial Detention for Mr. Rhoden which will be heard by a Superior Court Judge in State Superior Court in the upcoming days.
