TRENTON, NJ.- On Saturday, January 1, 2022 Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri announced that a Trenton man has been Arrested and Charged for the Fatal Shooting that occurred on New Year's Eve on Beakes Street in Trenton, New Jersey.
Shannon Williams, 35, has been Charged with First Degree Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and Second Degree Certain Persons not to Possess Weapons.
The Charges are a result of an investigation conducted by The Mercer County Homicide Task Force in conjunction with The Trenton Police Department.
On Friday, December 31, 2021, Members of The Trenton Police Department responded to The First Block of Beakes Street in The City of Trenton on a report of a Shooting in Progress. Upon arrival, Police Officers located a victim, later identified Emanuel Ross, 47, of Trenton lying on the sidewalk suffering from Gunshot Wounds to the Head, Back, and Face. Mr. Ross was immediately rushed to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where Mr. Ross succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced.
A canvass of the scene revealed Three Shell Casings in the area where Mr. Ross was found. Mercer County Homicide Task Force Detectives reviewed Video Surveillance Footage from The Donnelly Homes Housing Project and a suspect is seen pulling out a gun and Firing Three Shots in the direction of Mr. Ross. Detectives were able to identify the Shooter as Mr. Williams.
