THREE MEN INDICTED IN MONMOUTH COUNTY ON CHARGES FOR A ROBBERY GONE WRONG LEAVING A 19-YEAR-OLD INJURED

FREEHOLD, NJ.- On Friday, October 29, 2021 Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced that a Grand Jury sitting in Monmouth County, New Jersey has returned an Indictment against three men in connection with a botched Robbery resulting in a Shooting earlier this year.
The Grand Jury returned the Indictment against Kingphess Gomez, 21, of Woodbury, New Jersey, Thaddeus West, Jr., 21, and Suncere Smith, 27, both from Neptune City, New Jersey, Charging all three with First Degree Armed Robbery; First Degree Conspiracy; First Degree Attempted Murder; Second Degree Certain Persons Not to Possess Firearms; and other Second Degree Weapons related Offenses.
On Friday, January 22, 2021, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Monmouth County Law Enforcement agencies were notified of a Multi Round ShotSpotter Activation in the 300 Block of Fisher in Neptune City, New Jersey. Within minutes Members of The Wall Township Police Department stopped a motor vehicle and discovered a 19-Year-Old Shooting Victim in the front passenger seat, suffering from a gunshot. The Victim was immediately transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for emergency treatment.
A subsequent investigation by Members of The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Bureau in conjunction with Detectives of The Neptune Township Police Department determined that the three defendants lured the victim to the area to rob him at gunpoint. During the Robbery the victim was struck by gunfire. With the assistance of The U.S. Marshals Task Force, the three defendants were Arrested and Charged in August, 2021.
If convicted on the Charges all three defendants will face a maximum of Twenty Years in New Jersey State Prison, and will be required to serve Eighty Five Percent of their sentence pursuant to The No Early Release Act.
