MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP MOTHER CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH THE DEATH OF HER CHILDREN

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ.- On Tuesday, November 9, 2021 Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, Somerset County Chief of Detectives John W. Fodor, Hillsborough Township Police Chief Michael McMahon, and Montgomery Township Police Director Captain Jim Gill announced the Arrest of a Montgomery Township Mother in connection with the Deaths of her children.
Yuhwei Chou, 36, of The Skillman section of Montgomery Township has been Charged with Two Counts of First Degree Murder for causing the Deaths of her Children.
On Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at approximately 7:41 a.m., Members of The Hillsborough Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a vehicle that had left the roadway on Mountain View Road in Hillsborough, New Jersey.
Upon arrival, Police Officers encountered the female driver, identified as Yuhwei Chou, 36, of Skillman, New Jersey. Further, Police Officers observed Two Children secured in a booster seat and a baby seat in the back seat of the vehicle. Upon closer observation Police Officers noticed that the Two Children were bound and restrained in their seats. No Vital signs were detected, and both kids were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Somerset County Authorities have identified the Children as Samantha Ross age 7 and Paul Ross age 10 months, were the biological children of Yuhwei Chou.
The preliminary investigation has determined that Ms. Chou caused the Death of her children, Samantha and Paul. Detective are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths. The Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
Ms. Chou was transported to an area hospital for medical evaluation. Upon release from the hospital Ms. Chou will be lodged in The Somerset County Jail, pending her first appearance and Detention Hearing in Somerset County Superior Court.
