Former Police Officer Pleads Guilty

FORMER LONG BRANCH POLICE OFFICER PLEADS GUILTY TO MAKING METHAMPHETAMINE

     " Christopher Walls A Former Long Branch Police Officer Pleads Guilty To Charges Of Causing A Risk Or Widespread Injury Harm & Manufacturing A Controlled Dangerous Substance."

FREEHOLD, NJ.- On Wednesday, November 17, 2021 Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced that a Former Long Branch Police Officer has Pled Guilty after being Arrested and Charged with various offenses related to the manufacturing of Methamphetamine at his home in May 2021.



     Christopher Walls, 50, of West End Avenue in Long Branch Pled Guilty on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Jill G. O'Malley to Charges of Second Degree Causing a Risk or Widespread Injury; and Third Degree Manufacturing a Controlled Dangerous Substance. The Plea Agreement includes Mr. Walls to be Sentenced to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison, with Two Years to be Served before Parole Eligibility. Mr. Walls will forfeit his employment from The Long Branch Police Department and be barred from Future Public Employment. 


     On May 15, 2021, at approximately 10:36 p.m., Members of The Long Branch Police Department responded to the 300 Block of West End Avenue on a report of a Domestic Dispute. Upon arrival and while investigating Police Officers were advised by another resident of the home that Mr. Walls was involved in alleged suspicious Narcotics Activity.


     The New Jersey State Police Hazmat Unit responded to the scene and discovered Materials, Chemicals, and Instruments consistent with a Laboratory for the production of Methamphetamine, both in the basement in the residence and a shed on the property. The Hazmat Unit confirmed that Mr. Walls was in possession of ingredients necessary for the production of Methamphetamine and residue of the substance was found in Chemical-Related Glassware on the site.


     A Joint investigation conducted by The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office's Professional Responsibility and Narcotics Units and The Long Branch Police Department revealed that Mr. Walls had been in possession of books related to manufacturing Methamphetamine, Explosives, and Poison.


     Additionally, Police Officers discovered a large opened Gun Safe in the residence that was accessible to a child living in the residence. Inside the Safe Police Officers found Two Long Barrel, Four Handguns, Eight High Capacity Magazines and a Large Quantity of Ammunition.


     Mr. Walls was Formally Charged on May 15, 2021, and has been detained since his Arrest. Sentencing in the matter has been scheduled for January 14, 2021 in Monmouth County Superior Court.
