PATERSON NEW JERSEY MAN AND WOMAN ARRESTED FOR AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ON A 7-YEAR-OLD CHILD

PATERSON, NJ.- On Thursday, September 30, 2021 Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announced the arrests of Davon Burton, 26, and Demetries Page, 24, of Paterson, New Jersey. Mr. Burton and Ms. Page were arrested on September 29, 2021, after an investigation conducted by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.
Mr. Burton has been Charged with One Count of Second Degree Aggravated Assault; One Count of Third Degree Aggravated Assault; One Count of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; One Count of Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and One Count of Fourth Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
Ms. Page has been Charged with One Count of Second Degree Aggravated Assault; One Count of Third Degree Aggravated Assault; One Count of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; One Count of Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful; and One Count of Fourth Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
On Thursday, September 16, 2021, The Division of Child Protection and Permanency contacted The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit with concerns for a Seven-Year-Old Child.
Prosecutor’s Office Detectives were able to interview multiple witnesses, including the Seven-Year-Old child. The Child reported to Prosecutor’s Office Detectives that Mr. Burton and Ms. Page Physically Assaulted him on several occasions between September 2020 and September 2021 at their residence in the City of Paterson.
If Convicted, the sentencing exposure for Second Degree Aggravated Assault, is Five to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison with 85% term of service before parole eligibility pursuant to The No Early Release Act and three years of parole supervision; on Third Degree Aggravated Assault, is Three to Five Years in New Jersey State Prison; on Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, is Five to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison; on Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, is Three to Five Years in New Jersey State Prison; and on fourth degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, is up to Eighteen Months in New Jersey State Prison.
Mr. Burton and Ms. Page are currently detained at the Passaic County Jail pending the State’s motions for Pretrial Detention, which will be heard before a Superior Court Judge at a later date.
