Man Arrested In Elizabeth Homicide

ELIZABETH NEW JERSEY MAN ARRESTED WITH THE OCTOBER 10, 2021 FATAL STABBING OF A 21-YEAR-OLD ELIZABETH MAN

     " Alexis Mondesi Of Elizabeth Arrested & Charged With Murder, Robbery, & Weapons Related Offenses In The Murder Of Yonatan Alexander Vasquez-Torres."

ELIZABETH, NJ.- On Friday, October 15, 2021 Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel, Elizabeth Police Chief Giacomo Sacca and Elizabeth Police Director Earl Graves announced that an Elizabeth, New Jersey man has been Arrested and Charged in the Sunday, October 10, 2021 Stabbing Death of an 21-Year-Old Elizabeth man.



     Alexis Mondesi, 48, of Elizabeth has been Charged with First Degree Murder; First Degree Robbery; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose in connection with the Fatal Stabbing of Yonatan Alexander Vasquez-Torres, 21, of Elizabeth, New Jersey.


     On Sunday, October 10, 2021, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Members of The Elizabeth Police Department responded to the 300 Block of Center Street in Elizabeth on a report of a Stabbing.


     Upon arrival, Police Officers found Mr. Vasquez-Torre who had sustained a serious Stab Wound. Mr. Vasquez-Torres succumbed to his injury, and was subsequently pronounced deceased.


     An investigation led by The Union County Homicide Task Force, assisted by The Elizabeth Police Department and The Union County Sheriff's Crime Scene Unit identified Mr. Mondesi as the individual responsible for the death of Mr. Vasquez-Torres. Mr. Mondesi was Arrested at his home on Friday, October 15, 2021 without incident.


     Mr. Mondesi was processed on the Charges and remanded pending his First Appearance in Union County Superior Court in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
